happy new year!! 31st dec

What a sweet year 2011 was, plenty of waves, good-times and rad things were happening for Coffs coast surfers. Apart from a small wave stint in Spring, the rest of the year had us amused with everything from fun-size to massive waves for us to get our shred on!! We had two Emerald Beach surfers (Harley Ingleby & Shaun Cansdell) score a spot in Taylor Steele’s movie “Innersection” (the only two Australian’s to make the cut) We are home to a new wave pool invention that is aimed and bigger and better things in 2012. Woolgoolga board riders picked up the VB club of the year against some pretty fierce competition. Valla surfer Heath Joske won the Black Knight competition in Waves magazine. Coffs youth space hosted the successful Sky High event for the youth of Coffs and moved forward in getting a killer skate park built in the CBD somewhere. 2009 World Longboard champ Harley Ingleby and his mate Darryn Quigley started up Solitary Islands surf school and are having a blast teaching kids the ways of the ocean. All this and more has been happening while this little surf blog/website keeps chugging along. I have had a great year meeting, photographing and surfing with some extremely positive and stoked people on the mid north coast. I would like to thank all of you who subscribe or just look at this site on a daily basis and also a special thanks to all of you who have purchased prints, canvas and wall hangings from us over the last year. ST surf images have some new angles, ideas and plans for 2012 so stay tuned cause its going get even more salty in the next few months.

Life doesn’t get any better than when you are sharing some waves with friends and family

Not the biggest wave I saw in 2011 but easily the most intense… this thing was sucking back soooo hard. Harley Ingleby back on the 2nd May.

Gotta get a bit of Noosa time each year. We had two trips up there in 2011 this was shot on the March trip

The big south-east swell that hit in July

one of the better sunrises in 2011

You can bet Marky Merrikin will get even more creative with his aerial act in 2012

Massive Thanks to all our sponsors in 2011. Good karma and empty kegs will surely come your way!! Coopers surf center and The Surf Club have been on board since almost day one of our website. These guys make it possible and are both really supportive of beach culture and wave riding on the Coffs coast. We also picked up our new sponsor late in 2011 in the Solitary Islands surf school. 2012 gonna be a cracker….. have fun tonight and see you next year!
