Quiky pro weekend

We spent the entire weekend at the famous Snapper rocks where we took in the opening two days of the Quiksilver pro and it was all happening!! The event site is a buzz with all that is professional surfing, the waves were cooking, the surfing was outta this world and the hype was on overdrive. After a rainy Saturday arvo the clouds cleared by Sunday morning and the Gold coast was steaming. Hot sun, hot surfing, hot crowd and people having a good ole time. If you get a chance to get up to the Goldie over the next week to watch the event..take it, its worth the drive!

Jordy Smith will go close to winning this thing…. half way through a epic 9-point ride

Surf Groms on the Goldie

One of the many sidelines to what makes up the Quiky pro was the Vegemite surf groms. Surfing Australia has taken this program to amazing heights in 2011/12 with thousands of groms experiencing surfing in a safe, well taught and respectful way (something that has never being done before) 8 grommets from around Australia got VIP treatment all weekend. Got to surf with legends such as Mark Richards, Tom Carroll and Mat Hoy and got heaps of free stuff, watch the surfing from one of the best seats in the house and they even got the high five Kelly Slater…. Im betting no one had as much fun as these 8 surf groms this weekend!!

4X world champ; Mark Richards was amazing with the groms… he’s just got this gentle, friendly, calm aura that makes everyone feel so welcome. This was possibly Delta’s best weekend of her little life!!

saw jaw from smiling all weekend!
