sky high

Coffs council are doing something big for the youth of this town in September!!  They want to start engaging with the young people of our great town to make it more youth friendly and they are starting by hosting a major youth event called “Sky High” It is happening on the roof of the Castle street carpark on the afternoon of 10th September. The band Nine sons of Dan and Jesse Emmanuel will be the headlining acts with dance exhibitions from local ledge Travers Ross, skating exhibitions and ramps will be setup to watch and get involved with, there will be art, music, fashion and extreme sport all packed into one afternoon….. oh and did I mention its FREE??

There will be a designated skate area in the carpark on the day, as well as a chilli out lounge and free dance area. Red Frog will be there on the day providing free red frogs and pancakes to all!!

Heaps of Prizes…… become a king or queen for the day!

To help promote the event and break the ice for our conversations with youth, radio 2CHY-FM and social media will host a competition to crown the youth King and Queen of the Castle (Street Carpark) for a Day. Participants will be asked to explain in 25 words or less what they would do if they ruled the city for a day. Winners will receive a prize package of gift vouchers from major sponsoring retailers.

Support it – get a skate park!

One of the major issues floating around between the youth and the council is a decent skate park for our town. This is the time to rally support to get it over the line. A big turnout and support for a gig like this will go a long way to getting the sort of stuff you want in your town….. please get it out there CLICK HERE to go to the facebook link and share with ya mates!!

be a winner!!

Nikon and Coffs camera house have teamed up to provide the big daddy prize of TWO Nikon cameras. All you have to do is attend the gig and answer the simple question “What would you do if you ruled Coffs for a Day?” The winners will be announced at the end of the gig, and two lucky pups will be the owners of a new Nikon camera. Also up for grabs are  Huawei smart phones, movie tickets, passes to see the World Rally Championships in Coffs that night, clothing, skate decks, phone credit and more.

So get your thinking caps on and come up with a plan with how you can make Coffs Harbour a better place for the youth…. council are really keen to hear your ideas, so its not just a chance to win stuff, you idea may become a reality!!
