Yesterday (12th dec) the Woolgoolga boardriders had their end of year presentation… and man did it go orff!! the boys from the north don’t do things by halves. They had two killer bands playing. There was a sumo suit wrestling competition going down, schooner vouchers flying out all over the place, prizes upon prizes given out including a trip to Indo and they also got Pro surfer Shaun Cansdell to come along and hand out the trophies. This club has a dedicated committee that is providing a strong backbone to an increasingly successful club. The smiles on all of the members faces were testament to what a great job these guys are doing. Watch out for the Woopi boys next year…yeewww!

Mark Merrikin won the under 18′s divison from Zane Coleman and in third place was Fraser Bartlett (Fraser was absent…on his way to the gold coast for a grom comp) The order was the same for the 16′s. This club has some of the best juniors on the coast at the moment… the lads are looking the goods.
Little speed whippet – Mark Merrikin tearing up, in a woopi boardriders comp earlier this year
super smooth; Zane Coleman 2nd place
Jack Veale won the Under 14′s divison and he looks pretty stoked to be standing next Shaun Cansdell too.
The older boys always in the thick the action at the woopi boardriders meets. It’s part friendly part fierce competition but its all done with a big smile and a love for surfing. Neil Delang took the honours (and bragging rights) ahead of Peter Sullivan and Dave Crooks

Michael Featherstone is one of the big reasons why the end of year prezo’s went off. He puts everything he’s got into making the Woopi boardriders and fun and inspiring place for the grommets (and the older grommets) Stuff like yesterday doesn’t just happen, it takes a lot planning, phone calls, meetings and organisation to pull off, and Featho does it because it loves it!! Dudes like this are the making of boardrider clubs and Featho is Woopi biggest asset.

Shaun Ward pipped Johnny Craig by just 20 points in the open divison with Blake Esposito taking third.

The stand-out surfer for 2010 season – Johnny Craig (five 1st place’s in the opens div)
the super groms were ripping up the shorebreaks each month…. awwww so cute!
girl super groms
Trent Featherstone won a Madness surfboard for helping out the most. He had a 100% attendance record and didn’t just go surfing. He did the hard, boring stuff that needs to be done….. on ya Trent!
Serious talent in the 28 divison. John Craig came first ahead of Luke Anderson and Troy Few, all of these dudes rip so hard. All great role models for the upcoming youth, you can bet all the groms keep a close eye on what these 3 are doing when they paddle out.

Luke “mellow” Anderson (2nd place getter) has taken some big names down in his time… just ask Featho!
It’s a close and friendly club at Woopi… plenty of club spirit too, nearly 100% of em with their club T-shirts on. Stayed tuned for next year…. its going to be going off at Woopi thats for sure!
