lost atlas

Kai Neville has followed up the hugely successful modern collective film with another full-on progressive shortboarding film that leaves him as “the man” for this style of movie over the last 2 years. The aerial surfing in this video will leave you speechless at times, but what I like best about the flick is the ultra cool styling/colour edit and lifestyle shots he uses.

The cast is about as good as it gets once again, with the obvious ones like Jordy Smith, Dane Reynolds, Julian Wilson, Owen Wright, Craig Anderson and they all bring their A-game for this edit. But its the slightly lesser known shredders like Chippa Wilson, Kolohe Andino and one of the movie’s standout performers John Florence that maybe even steal the show…. worth buying the movie just to see John Florence’s airs alone. Oh and I can’t not mention Dusty Payne, his stuff is mental!

Kai and team shoot at places that are not so obvious which is a massive bonus…. there is only so many times you can watch the exact same indonesian wave break the exact same way in every movie that comes out. I know its a guaranteed score shooting in Indo but sooner or later crew want to see something different and while there is some Indo in this film the majority of the gold is shot many miles away. They manage to find the most rippable 3-4 foot waves with cool backdrops…. they have done their homework and its paid off.

Just a little warning to the over 30′s watching this vid (that don’t already do airs) don’t watch the film and then go and try em…. it will only end in tears. A wise surfer once told me “why you would want to jump off a perfectly good wave is beyond me” I’m going to stick with his theory I think…. but geez these freaky new variations are bloody good to watch….. definitely one of the best flicks of this year, if not the best….
