innersection dvd review

Taylor Steele’s latest production is something so different from what’s been done in surf films before. Basically it’s 25 different surfers been shot and edited by 25 different film makers to form a very “high performance”, “racey”, “get off the couch and go surfin” inspiring DVD. The flow of the film isn’t too bad considering it’s not the vision of one film maker or crew. It’s not as seamless most surf films, but it will suit grommets with short attention spans perfectly. The surfing is of course mental, lovers of aerials will need to buy this video, the waves are mostly good and the depth of talent it shows in young filmmakers is impressive. More emphasis is put on content of surfing than good quality light, but its not suppose to be one of those visually stunning movies.

The usual suspects, Joel Parkinson, Kelly Slater, Josh Kerr and Clay Marzo all have killer sections, but my favorites were from the younger, less known crew like Nate Tyler and Matt Meola, Meola section is crazy good! Craig Anderson also lights up the screen with his funky style. Ozzie Wright is always throwing up something different and his section certainly doesn’t disappoint.

You definitely get your money’s worth with this DVD! loads of surfing action, sure to get even the most unmotivated surfer off the couch and into the lineup and after all isn’t that the sole purpose of watching a surfing DVD??
