The white kid from Hawaii who now rules the lineup at Pipeline has a new profile vid out and its pretty Rad!!

After a humorous start which shows Jamie having a go at himself, via the perceptions of the public with some not so subtle product placement… It is then BANG! straight into heaving tubes shot from the water and land, mixed with a healthy smattering of his crazy aerial attack (and its not your normal 2-foot sloppy onshore air sections that seem to be the norm..all his airs are in solid waves)

This film delivers full on “in ya face” Rooooaarrr! The digi soundtrack and surfing demands your attention, there wasn’t a moment where you are allowed to just drift off. The cinematography and editing is awesome, definitely up there with the best of em.

Jamie O’Brien insights

The interviews with Kelly Slater and Bruce Irons were classic. Slater politely says he is “hard to get along with” and inconsiderate. Bruce Irons refers to him as an arrogant prick, but all of it is said with a ton of respect. There is no edited out footage to make him look like a golden boy, that’s for sure. Jamie makes no apologies for the way he is and that’s why he gets away with it… cause he’s just being who he is.

The insights into Jamie’s youth are hilarious. Jamie has nothing to hide, he lays all out warts and all. Find out why he had duct tape wrapped around his head for 18 months whenever he surfed. Find out why he was called a Retard for a year and how is father is a big reason for his success today. It’s a proper profile film, one where you really feel you know the dude by the time its done.

The waves are off the hook. Indo, Hawaii, Tahiti all pumping and heavy. The Nias section is fricken mental! best footage I have ever seen from the joint. As far a profile flicks, this is one of the best I’ve seen for 5 years. The producer doesn’t try to make him something he’s not. Jamie comes across honest, even if it doesn’t reflect favourably and most of all the waves and surfing are both as good as they get. This would make a great stocking filler to any surfer this chrissy.
